Description
Omega OYL-501 Gulo Ale is an exclusive for Omega Yeast, it is a blend of OYL-005 Irish Ale OYL-026 French Saison and was chosen for exhibiting the best of the Irish strain’s flavour while capturing the powerful attenuation of the French. OYL-501 Gulo® Ale has orange-marmalade and peach characters with a clean, brut-like finish. The strain is non-phenolic, aromatic and a beast at devouring wort sugars, ideal for IPA (including Brut IPA), Stout or Bière de Garde.
OYL-501 Gulo® Ale strain tests positive for the STA1 gene, an indicator of Saccharomyces cerevisiae var. diastaticus, and is capable of fermenting dextrins, resulting in very high attenuation.
The hybrids in this strain catalog were invented by Omega Yeast as the result of years of research and development. They are yeast strains that have never before existed. Although patenting brewing yeast strains is a somewhat novel concept, we made the decision to file a patent application for the unique Gulo® Ale strain to protect the time, creativity and expense invested in developing it. Omega Yeast recognize the brewing community’s conventions of propagating in-house, repitching, and sharing cultures with other like-minded brewers, and while we want to protect our investment in Gulo®, Omega Yeast have no intention of stopping breweries or individuals that have purchased a culture from us from using it as they would any other non-patented strain. So, carry on brewing, and we will carry on reselling quality Omega Yeast strains.
Omega Yeast’s metabolically healthy cells produce vigorous fermentation and consistent results for home brewers and probrewers alike. Each homebrew pack (150ml) is packed with 225b cells.

All packs now contain 150 mL of yeast slurry to enhance the brewer’s experience! For the convenience of your customers, pack height and width will not change. The pack’s “gusset” accommodates the additional volume without increasing the pack’s dimensions.
